At a time when European achievements are increasingly being called into question, we - Volt Switzerland together with our progressive friends from Operation Libero - want to set an example. A sign in favour of a vibrant, open and young Europe.
The Eurovision Song Contest is more than just a music event. It is a symbol of cultural diversity, of creative freedom and of how we can come together despite all our differences. We are taking this as an opportunity to connect with young people from Switzerland, Germany and France - with a rally at the ESC through Basel followed by public viewing at the Kaserne Basel.
Date: 17 May 2025
Location: Kaserne Basel
Basel is the perfect place for this: a city in the heart of the border region, criss-crossed by linguistic and cultural borders - and yet united by a common attitude to life. We invite young and young-at-heart, committed or motivated organisations and people from the three-country region to meet, network and experience Europe.
At the same time, we want to use this format to show that political engagement can also be fun. Our rally combines content with creativity, exchange with movement - and celebrates what makes Europe strong: openness, curiosity and diversity.
Because: Europe needs us. And we need a Europe that stands for freedom, equality and democracy.
