Taxes
Due to tax competition between municipalities, cantons and ultimately European countries, we are losing a lot of public money that could be better used elsewhere. At Volt, we want a fair tax system that strengthens small and medium-sized businesses and in which companies contribute their fair financial share to the common good.
Increase taxation of wealth instead of income
The gap between rich and poor is becoming ever wider, while the middle class has been weakened in recent years. Taxes should be collected fairly and in a spirit of solidarity; Those who have more should also contribute more. Taxes should increasingly be levied progressively on wealth and taxes on middle and low incomes should be reduced.Raise corporate taxes
Across Europe, national effective corporate taxes are to be increased to at least 22%. In addition, national surtaxes should be introduced for lower tax jurisdictions in order to effectively reach at least 22% everywhere. This will end tax competition between countries and allow companies to make their fair contribution.Introduce local sales taxes
Companies should tax their sales where they are generated. This means that taxes no longer flow to foreign oases, but instead go to the people locally beneficial.Minimum rates for gift, inheritance and wealth taxes
In order to achieve fair taxation for wealthy private individuals, European harmonised minimum effective rates for gift, inheritance and wealth taxes should be introduced.
